"Complete Lolita Wardrobe" Challenge!

After reading (over and over and over again ^^;;) this entry at F*** Yeah Lolita on building a complete Lolita wardrobe, I’ve been feeling rather inspired to do a similar “Complete Lolita Wardrobe” sort of challenge with a limited number of Lolita pieces from my own wardrobe.

It’s been rather slow at work and in life lately, so I’ve taken to daydreaming about this challenge – and here is my “Complete Lolita Wardrobe”, following the same number of items Caro-chan used in her post! :) Since my wardrobe contains mainly classic, I went along that route.

My chosen pieces:

1 Special Piece
Alice and the Pirates: Masquerade Theatre JSK in Ivory
AatP Masquerade Theatre JSK
I chose this JSK as my special piece as it’s one of my dream prints as well as one of the most intricate prints I have. I almost chose my Innocent World Margrette JSK (it was the JSK that brought me fully into Lolita after years of “just looking” ^^) but decided it was too similar to my easy-to-match dresses.

2 Easy-to-Coordinate Dresses
Innocent World’s Viennese Waltz in Blue
Innocent World’s Alencon JSK in Ivory
"Complete Lolita Wardrobe" Challenge
I probably should have chosen a less intricate print than Viennese Waltz, but I think I’m in a phase – I just can’t get enough of it! ^^;; Alencon is my easy back-up dress because it can match just about anything in a classic wardrobe.

2 Skirts
Innocent World’s Camille Skirt in Chocolat
Innocent World’s Romatic Rose Skirt
"Complete Lolita Wardrobe" Challenge
I chose one printed skirt and one plain skirt for variety. Both are really casual skirts that are fairly simple in design, but Lolita skirts generally tend to be casual wear for me.

3 Blouses
Innocent World’s LP Short Sleeved Blouse with Jabot
Innocent World’s Lily Emblem Chiffon Blouse with Jabot
Offbrand Brown Blouse
"Complete Lolita Wardrobe" Challenge
Since it’s forever summer where I live, I decided to pick two blouses that would be suitable for the local weather. I chose a brown blouse from my officewear closet because brown matches the bag and shoes I chose for this challenge.

2 Cutsews
Innocent World Blue Cutsew
Innocent World’s Polkadot Lace Pullover in Pink
"Complete Lolita Wardrobe" Challenge
These cutsews were chosen to add more colour to my wardrobe :) Since my wardrobe seems to be mostly ivory and brown, I figured these colourful cutsews were easy ways of adding more interest to my outfits.

2 Outerwear
Alannah Hill Blue Pearls Cardigan
Innocent World’s Millefeuille Lace Bolero in Bordeaux
"Complete Lolita Wardrobe" Challenge
The Millefeuille lace bolero was one of my dream items and I was so happy to be able to buy it when Innocent World restocked the L size recently :D No wardrobe of mine would ever be complete without it haha! The Alannah Hill cardigan is another piece from my officewear closet. It’s just so pretty I can’t help but want to wear it with everything!

1 Bag & 1 Pair of Shoes
Innocent World’s Rose Lace Book Bag in Chocolat
Dune Boots in Brown
"Complete Lolita Wardrobe" Challenge
Following Caro-chan’s post, I picked only one bag and one pair of shoes for this challenge. I chose the book bag because it’s another of my dream items (and one of the very very few brand pieces that I actually paid full price for), and the shoes were chosen because they are a very smart looking pair that match the bag and the overall classic look. The shoes were taken from my dailywear closet.

Various Socks, Tights, Jewellery, Headwear & Accessories
"Complete Lolita Wardrobe" Challenge
I chose a large selection of jewellery, accessories, tights, socks and headwear from my dailywear closet. The only items from my “Exclusively Lolita” closet are the OTKs, the bonnet (commissioned by Caro-chan! ^_^) and the canotier. Not all the items I’ve used in my coordinates are pictured here :)

And mustn’t forget the most important of all: The Petticoat
"Complete Lolita Wardrobe" Challenge
The petticoat actually consists of one offbrand petticoat, one In The Starlight petticoat and one Dear Celine skirt layered for poofiness. I find this combination gives the best shape :)

Aaaaand that’s all of my chosen items for the “Complete Lolita Wardrobe” challenge!

Now, following Caro-chan’s post, I’ve come up with three outfits for each main piece. I could do more coordinates, but they actually do start looking a bit similar after a while ^^;

Anyway, here we go with the coordinates!

Alice and the Pirates Masquerade Theatre JSK #1
"Complete Lolita Wardrobe" Challenge
I wanted to make sure my special piece had a more formal coordinate for those special days, so I paired it with my bonnet and my most extravagant pieces :D For cooler weather, it’ll be easy to throw on a cape over this outfit!

Alice and the Pirates Masquerade Theatre JSK #2
"Complete Lolita Wardrobe" Challenge
This is a rather ordinary-looking coordinate for classic Lolita, but I rather like it because it lets the dress and the print become the main focus of the outfit.

Alice and the Pirates Masquerade Theatre JSK #3
"Complete Lolita Wardrobe" Challenge
A rather casual outfit for my “special piece”! But I find this pale blue so pretty when paired with ivory and beige :D

Innocent World Viennese Waltz JSK #1
"Complete Lolita Wardrobe" Challenge
I love straw hats and parasols in Lolita coordinates :D This ensemble should be worn with a low updo with wispy strands around the face to complement the summery look. If I could choose a second pair of shoes and bag, I would definitely choose something in beige or ivory to match the parasol.

Innocent World Viennese Waltz JSK #2
"Complete Lolita Wardrobe" Challenge
A casual coordinate with a JSK because I’m always wearing casual classic! It seems so natural to pair this JSK with soft pink – such a sweet colour combination!

Innocent World Viennese Waltz JSK #3
"Complete Lolita Wardrobe" Challenge
This is a more formal coordinate, which can also be used for special occasions :D Layering the blouse and bolero is a little too warm for this country, but it’s something I’d probably wear if I were to attend a Lolita meet-up in another country with a colder climate. I rather like Bordeaux and light blue together – Bordeaux gives any outfit a lush feeling, while light blue softens the effect so that it still looks sweet despite the rich colour.

Innocent World Alencon JSK #1
"Complete Lolita Wardrobe" Challenge
Another ordinary coordinate to let the focus stay on the JSK’s print, since it’s also quite intricate upclose!

Innocent World Alencon JSK #2
"Complete Lolita Wardrobe" Challenge
This coordinate is rather similar to the #1 ordinary coordinate, but swaps the blouse for the Bordeaux bolero. I rather like the sudden splash of Bordeaux here.

Innocent World Alencon JSK #3
"Complete Lolita Wardrobe" Challenge
Since this JSK is so neutral, it’s easy to add a splash of colour with this cutsew. I tied in the blue with the few blue accessories I have.

Innocent World Romantic Rose Skirt #1
"Complete Lolita Wardrobe" Challenge
Casual but sweet! I’m using pale blue to draw out the blue in the skirt. This is probably the closest I’ll get to wearing sweet Lolita :)

Innocent World Romantic Rose Skirt #2
"Complete Lolita Wardrobe" Challenge
A summery casual country coordinate! This skirt has a rough sort of texture that really makes me think of picnics and country Lolita. Best to pair this with a picnic basket :D

Innocent World Romantic Rose Skirt #3
"Complete Lolita Wardrobe" Challenge
The blouse makes the outfit look smart enough for lunch at a hotel restaurant :) I would wear an updo with the canotier to add to the slightly more formal feel.

Innocent World Camille Skirt #1
"Complete Lolita Wardrobe" Challenge
I had to find some other way of incorporating this cutsew into my wardrobe XD Luckily, I think blue and brown are great together! I just need more accessories in this shade of blue… I actually kind of hate this outfit XD;

Innocent World Camille Skirt #2
"Complete Lolita Wardrobe" Challenge
Yet another casual coordinate! This one is geared more towards slightly cooler weather.

Innocent World Camille Skirt #3
"Complete Lolita Wardrobe" Challenge
This is meant to be a really casual coordinate since the skirt itself looks pretty casual :) The peeking underskirt – the skirt is part of my petticoat 3-piece set, but showing it off was intentional in this outfit to tie in more of the light colours :) When planning coordinates for this skirt, this one was my least favourite outfit, but it turned out to be one of the most interesting coordinates today! ^^;

Most of the time, I tend to choose different main pieces (JSKs and skirts) to wear, so I rarely ever think about the different ways of coordinating a JSK or skirt, but this challenge has really helped me open my eyes to the many different coordinates I can wear with what I have in my closet! :D I feel like my wardrobe has just expanded many times over without having to do anything haha!

I had a lot of fun with this post! :) Try a hand with your closet as well!
